Fan Control Redesign

Assignment: Redesign a real world control that needs to be improved. Deliverables include a poster and CD presenting the redesign.

My solution: I chose to redesign a bedroom ceiling fan control. The current fan control lacks state awareness, forcing the user to rotate through each speed and wait to make sure that the fan slowed down. My redesign is an unobtrusive slider control for the fan speed, which provides tactile feedback in the form of a click when stopping the fan. (view pdf)
